I want this

David Dear Silver Duck Feet Mirror

run this town in all black everything

jay_runthistown

Everyone is talking about the ‘Run This Town’ video with Rihanna, jay-z and kanye west (view video here) so I have to get in my thoughts on it too.  I loooove the video, but disappointed in kanye’s part. I feel like they should have put in someone better(yikees). The vid has a modern version of a old skool Ruff Ryders video feel to it, no? bet you haven’t heard anyone use that description! But in all seriousness, awesome video, awesome art direction and awesome styling.

These were the shades RiRi was wearing in the video, A-Morir By Kerin Rose. Product description via @kerinrose twitter “the a-morir eyewear in “run this town” is completely covered in matte black pyramid studs and you can see through them”. It looks like these were custom made for RiRi but you can find A-Morir product on her site or at Patricia Field’s shop.

I had met Kerin Rose back in my Ugly Betty intern days when I would do product pickups and dropoffs to the Particia Field store. This was only a few months ago and kerin’s A-Morir line as already blown up and seems to be a really fast growing project for her, I’m extremely impressed AND inspired!

These are a pair that are currently for sale that I love, also seen on Katy Kerry below..

Keep a lookout for future A-Morir By Kerin Rose products in the future, I cant wait to see what else she comes up with!

Koto Bolofo

I recently bought a men’s chambray shirt  for dirt cheap from the urban outfitters sale section. The label did not say anything other than “Koto”.

I googled “Koto” (how else do we find our information) and found Koto Bolofo, a well known fashion photographer, born in South Africa and currently based out of Paris. His work includes names like Burberry, Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ. He also has published books of his work, La Maison and Venus Williams. I have to admit that this is the first time I’ve heard of Koto…I can’t even remember my friend’s birthdays let alone photographer names and works, so I checked out his website for the first time. The site (which has an ah-mazing design) consists of information about a F/W09 women’s collection.

koto3
All pieces are made in very limited quantities and each piece is numbered, making them priceless collectors items.

The cape piece above truly incorporated photography and fashion. each found picture was placed into “pockets” in the coat, preserving and displaying them.

Only 6 pieces were made of the above blue tailcoat because each lining consists of a vintage flag. The picture above says “This revealed the interior with one of six genuine vintage unused British union jacks stitched to the inside. These were never waved by patriotic crowds due to the fact that king edward abdicated from the throne in 1936.”

This news is a few months old but this is such a truly amazing collection that I had to write about it. I encourage you to visit www.kotobolofo.com and view all the pictures from the collection.

And as for the urban outfitters collection, I’m still not even sure if “Koto” belongs to Koto Bolofo or not. I can’t find any information about it other than it was exclusive to urban outfitters so if anyone out there knows something I don’t know please enlighten me.

Brooklyn Artists & Fleas

This past weekend while in Williamsburg I went to go check out Brooklyn Artists & Fleas. It’s a really cool flea market concept where local vintage collectors, jewelry designers and artists can rent a table for the weekend, gain some exposure and sell their products. I wasn’t too impressed by the vintage goods, I’m more of a salvation army vintage shopper, but I more than impressed by one of the jewelry designers I saw. As I attempt to start up my own jewelry line, It is very inspiring to see people taking their passion for jewelry and building a career out of it.

The picture above was from the VERA MEAT table. I actually came across her website a few weeks ago and have been meaning to make a post about the designs. VERA MEAT has to be the most creative and original jewelry line that I’ve seen in a while.

Taken from the VERAMEAT website

“Each piece of VERAMEAT jewelry mirrors a self-sufficient life form with a sculptural presence. Hand-crafted in New York City from such fine materials as ecologically sound recycled silver and pure 14-25k gold, VERAMEAT designs are artfully refined contemporary heirlooms.

VERAMEAT is Vera Balyura, a teller of winding tales in search of the extraordinary. Born in Ukraine, she recalls woodcarving with her grandfather, horseback riding in Utah & moving to New York to be a high fashion model all before the age of 14. Each design reflects a personal (yet universal) inspiration—

from traveling the world, making music, maritime ny sagas, botanical structures of light, futuristic visions of rogue spacemen in beer, and before history.”

After browsing the site, here are my favs…

The “Everybody’s Talkin” two-finger ring, $100.

The “Terrier Face” ring, $110

The “Paint The Town Red” Necklace, $110

Be sure to check out her site HERE, she even has a dinosaur eating chicken ring! Maybe one day she can design a VERAMEAT X Dinosaurs In New York ring!
